For its final concert of the season, the CMC is presenting a programme of English Music. Tippett's Concerto for Double String Orchestra follows on from a strong tradition of English string writing, while Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending is a deeply heartfelt work, performed by the versatile Polish violinist Anna Banaszkiewicz. The final two works on the programme will include Britten's Sinfonietta, a work he composed while still a student at the Royal College of Music in London, as well as the world premiere of Concerto Grosso, the work of young English composer Neil Luck, himself a recent graduate of the College.
