Becoming familiar with sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations related to the duties of the workers as well as the proper use and care of fall arrest equipment.
Actual and potential hazards related to the use of fall arrest equipment which include:
- impact of age of the worker
- speed and distance of fall
- safe fall distance
The proper use, care, storage and inspection of the equipment:
- proper fit – swing factor
- anchor points – lanyard
- energy absorber
- metal parts – buckles and snap hooks
- material portions of the harness
- effect of corrosives, metal slivers, moisture and sunlight
Fall arrest procedures appropriate for assigned tasks in this workplace.
CERTIFICATES
All successful participants will receive a fall arrest wallet sized training certificate, which is valid for three years.
CLASS SIZE
The optimum number is 8 participants.
Supervisors who may not use fall arrest equipment should attend this training workshop so they can comply with the definition of a “competent supervisor”.
